近日，皇冠9393体育平台2023级硕博留学生在于诗卉老师的带领下，拜访了益洋航运集团大连办公室。我校校友、集团创始人苏中一及总裁助理隋宏峰热情欢迎师生一行的来访。

访问中，苏中一介绍了集团的历史发展和运营情况，并结合多年皇冠9393体育平台的实践经验，就航运业在地缘政治、法规政策等各种因素影响下的应对和选择分享了自己的观察与思考。隋宏峰鼓励青年皇冠9393体育平台学子秉持诚实正直的理念，积极拥抱工作和生活。

益洋航运集团创建于2010年皇冠9393体育平台，其创始人苏中一本科毕业于皇冠9393体育平台国际海事和航运管理专业（双学位），先后供职于中远、法国达飞等多家国际知名航运企业。其间，陆续完成并获得鹿特丹伊拉姆斯大学海运经济硕士学位、瑞士洛桑国际管理发展学院和长江商学院EMBA学位。

皇冠9393体育平台2023级共有9名英授项目硕博留学生，涉及海商法、国际法、国际经济法三个方向。在英语授课的课堂教学以外，学院和学校也为留学生们安排了丰富多彩的实践教学活动，帮助国际学生将学业规划与行业发展相融合。2023级海商法方向硕士研究生Ms. Akoua Sepenyon Gbotcho和Mr. Hafeez Anwar记录了此次实践教学之旅的收获。

On Monday, April 1, 2024, a visit was made to the shipping company Erasmus Shipinvest Group to enable international students studying law to learn more about the practical side of their program, during which an enriching exchange took place with the founder, Mr. John SU, and one of his collaborators, Mr. Steve SUI. As Ms. YU emphasized at the start of the exchange, the legal profession must be closely connected with practicing, and in particular to the shipping industry for students whose studies are related to shipping. Mr. SU introduced Erasmus Shipinvest Group, a company founded in 2010 and operating in China and overseas. He explored their shipping services and operations while developing the main workings of the shipping industry, including the categorization of shipping giants, the charter party, which is a contract between a shipowner and a customer for the hire of a vessel for a specified period, and the transport documents that form part of this contract, such as the bill of lading. The latter two are the areas of expertise of lawyers in the event of disputes between the parties.

It might seem that shipping companies are more technical and have nothing to do with the law, but our discussions helped us to understand that the shipping company is at the top of the shipping industry chain and provokes a chain reaction that always involves the legal profession. The shipping industry is governed by regulations and standards to which shipping companies must conform. The regulations in force in 2024 relate to carbon emissions from ships and the net zero initiative. The world of shipping is a very sensitive one and leaves no chance for slight errors. As Mr. SU said, even if you’re asleep, the ship isn't, so you have to be on the lookout for the smallest details. An important piece of advice given by Mr. Steve SUI is for us law students, and part of the Erasmus Shipinvest Group code of conduct is “Always treasure your integrity and never lose it because it will make you the most valuable person in the world”. This visit of observation and exchange with shipping industry practitioners was very nourishing in terms of knowledge and valuable advice that we need in our growth process.

On 1st April 2024, a group of international students from the Law School of Dalian Maritime University embarked on an insightful journey to understand the practical aspects of shipping industry. Led by Ms. Yu, the students visited Erasmus Ship Invest Group in Dalian. The students were warmly welcomed by Mr. SU Zhongyi, the founder of the Group, who shared the story how the Erasmus has been built and developed into an industry leader over 25 years through dedication and hard work.

During the office tour, the students witnessed the passion and teamwork of Erasmus employees who tirelessly to uphold the highest safety and quality standards. They gained a hands-on understanding of complex ship management operations. In an interactive session, the Chairman Mr. Su shared his experiences of challenges and successes with the students. He emphasized on facing difficulties with determination to find solutions. The students asked insightful questions and were inspired by his wisdom and leadership.

Before departing, Ms. Yu thanked Erasmus and said the visit fueled the students’ zeal to learn more about this exciting industry. She believes students will definitely learn from Erasmus' story to pursue their dreams. It was an experience that will stay with the students as a source of motivation in their careers.

The visit opened new doors of learning and possibilities for the students through Erasmus' example of turning vision into reality with hard work and perseverance.
